Advanced Dementia and the Hospice Patient 4-30-2020

Join Family Hospice of UPMC, UPMC Home Health Care, UPMC Senior Services, and Presbyterian SeniorCare Network  for a virtual  CEU to learn about advanced dementia and the hospice patient.  Presenter will speak about the programs offered to a hospice patient and their families.  Attendees will gain a better understanding of the hospice medicare benefit, stages of dementia and rationale for deprescribing medications used to treat dementia.

Target Audience

Physicians, nurses, social workers, personal and long term care staff are encouraged to attend.

  1. Brief overview of causes of dementia and its typical course
  2. Understand the rationale for deprescribing medications used to treat dementia.
  3. Review common symptoms of advanced dementia and the hospice treatment approach.
