Define motivational interviewing (MI) and describe the MI approach to promoting behavior change. o List the four elements of the MI spirit and describe how you would apply them in practice. o Differentiate between the stages of change and know how to identify at which stage your patients may be. o Use the POLAR*S framework to conduct an intervention to learn more about a patient’s drug and/or alcohol use and facilitate behavior change.
