This Activity will aid in effective communication between all on the health care team, including the Transplant coordinators, related to timely referrals of donors and the care of patients through brain death and DCD.

1. You will be able to identify some of the reasons families become confused about brain death.
2. You will be able to utilize techniques to help you communicate brain death more effectively.
3. You will be able to facilitate an effective transition to the discussion with the organ procurement coordinator.
4. The Participants will identify components to optimize the medical management of a potential organ donor patient.
