This activity will help fill the gap by providing pharmacists with a presentation about appropriately identifying regulations and guideline recommendations on dosing for acute opioid withdrawal in hospitalized patients that are not part of an opioid treatment program. The activity will walk pharmacists through current regulations and limitations on use available pharmacotherapy for use in acute opioid withdrawal in a hospital setting; it will also discuss how dosing for acute opioid withdrawal differs from patients belonging to an opioid treatment program.  After the activity the pharmacists should feel more comfortable being able to identify proper dosing of pharmacotherapy used for opioid withdrawal and identify how federal regulations guide our practices in acute care. The activity will be a presentation which will involve assessments during and after as well as an opportunity for discussion and questions.
