This activity will help prepare nurses to care for the neuro patient.  A comprehensive agenda including dementia and the stroke patient, neurosurgical procedures, neuroendocrine disorders, care of the patient with ICP and an EVD, and standards of care for the neuro critical care patient.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, the participants should be able to:

Implement strategies to help improve the care of the stroke patient with dementia

Differentiate the signs/symptoms and treatment options for SIADH, DI, and Cerebral salt wasting

Explain neurosurgical interventions and post operative care for various types of neurosurgical diagnoses

Use the stroke alert process to identify and implement prompt treatment of a stroke patient in a simulation environment

Demonstrate correct set-up of an EVD
