2025 UPMC Adrenal Symposium

This course is designed to cover the most recent advances in the diagnosis and treatment of adrenal disorders, including the management of incidental adrenal nodules. Upon completion of this activity, and based on the latest guidelines and newest technology, learners should be able to discuss current strategies and updates in the diagnosis and management of hypercortisolism, including mild autonomous cortisol secretion, adrenal insufficiency, and other primary and secondary adrenal diseases.

Target Audience

This course is designed for physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other health care professionals practicing in the areas of Endocrinology, Urology, Cardiology, Nephrology, Internal Medicine, Oncology, and Surgery.

Learning Objectives

1) To use current evidence-based practices in the evaluation of incidental adrenal nodules including initial biochemical and radiographic assessment

2) To diagnose patients with hypercortisolism (including mild autonomous cortisol secretion) and identify medical and operative treatment options

3) To understand adrenal causes of hypertension including the diagnosis, management, and definitive treatment options

4) To identify current operative techniques and safe perioperative patient management

5) To apply knowledge of genetics in the care of patients with adrenal diseases

6) To understand the initial evaluation of adrenal nodules in patients with existing cancer diagnoses and potential treatment
