PA PQC Annual Meeting - May 21, 2025 - JHF
The 2025 PA PQC annual meeting will provide opportunities for PA PQC hospital teams to learn about initiative-specific structure and process measures, strategies and interventions for the PQC perinatal health priority areas of maternal sepsis, maternal OUD and neonatal abstinence syndrome while engaging in collaborative learning and quality improvement planning for the 2025-26 initiatives. Participants will also engage in peer-to-peer learning and discussion of team successes, challenges, and lessons learned from the 2024-25 implementation year initiatives.

- Discuss successes and future directions of the PA PQC based on initiative-specific structure and process measures.
- Discuss the importance of embedding a focus around fairness in healthcare in severe maternal morbidity case reviews and quality improvement efforts.
- Identify strategies to integrate considerations of social drivers of health and health disparities into the severe maternal morbidity chart review process.
- Identify sources of stigma in the health care system for patients with substance use disorders.
- Describe the biopsychosocial model of addiction.
- Discuss the importance of taking a non-stigmatizing substance use history.
- Describe the principles of harm reduction as they relate to patient care.
- Describe what a POSC is, its purpose, and its role in supporting families affected by substance use or other risk factors, clarifying that it's a collaborative plan, not a punitive measure.
- Discuss the importance of a collaborative relationship between women and their providers.
- Identify ways to encourage women to actively participate in the POSC process, advocate for their needs, and empower them to make informed decisions about their care and their child's well-being.
- Discuss quality improvement planning for new implementation year with regional peers.
- Discuss 2024-25 initiative successes and barriers among PA PQC Healthcare Teams.
- Discuss examples of Healthcare Teams across PA embedding patient voice into quality improvement work.
