New medications and new guidelines are constantly being released. Pharmacists need a mechanism to keep up with these new medications and guidelines.
Milrinone is an inotrope which exerts its effect through increasing in cAMP levels, a process which is impeded by betablockers. Patients on milrinone for hemodynamic optimization often have an indication for beta-blockers. The seemingly contradictory use of milrinone and beta-blockers, remains controversial.
