Statin therapies have remained a first line treatment for the reduction of cardiovascular risk owing to their significant LDL reduction and demonstrated mortality benefit. However, statin associated muscle symptoms have contributed to poor adherence, therapy discontinuation, and increased use of less preferred lipid lowering agents. This presentation aims to explore strategies for reintroducing statins to maximize cardiovascular risk reduction and to identify alternative therapies when appropriate.
