Shaping the Future: Models of Integrated Care at UPMC

Pittsburgh, PA US
December 7, 2019

Large healthcare systems across the nation are now pursuing the quadruple aim: 1) improving the health of populations, 2) enhancing the patient experience of care, 3) reducing the per capita cost of health care, and 4) improving the work life of those who deliver care.  These aims can only be realized if behavioral health services are carefully and extensively integrated across health care systems.

The purpose of this conference is to illustrate the innovative ways in which behavioral health services are being delivered support integrated care of UPMC and how the provision of these services is allowing for the accomplishment of the quadruple aim.  The conference will involve presentations given by UPMC hospital and health plan leaders, physicians, psychologists, and other mental health professionals.  Additionally, the conference will involve a keynote address given by Douglas Tynan, PhD, former Director of Integrated Care at the American Psychological Association, which will describe the state of integrated care across the nation as well as the future of integrated care.

The provision of world-class care and the accomplishment of the quadruple aim necessitates the integration of medical and behavior health services. This conference will offer participants an inside look at how integration is happening at UPMC as well as an opportunity to see and shape the future of integrated care at UPMC.
