This conference is designed for health professionals who care for cardiovascular patients and their families.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and our anticipated requirements to maintain “social distancing,” this conference will be offered virtually this year.
Our Goal:
Our goal for the virtual event is to continue to offer our participants a safe environment to obtain an update on evidence-based cardiac care while earning continuing education and learning from highly qualified providers.
Target Audience
Physicians, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and other members of the healthcare team will benefit from attendance at this conference.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this seminar, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the underlying cardiovascular conditions that predispose to sudden cardiac death in the athlete.
- Review the role of public access to defibrillation programs and the AED in improving outcomes in athletes with cardiac arrest.
- Discuss the indications for different types of cardiac monitoring
- Discuss the latest American College of Cardiology guidelines for aspirin, exercise, alcohol and vitamins
- Identify atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease risk factors (ASCVD)
- Review the interventional guidelines for atherosclerotic cardiovascular risk factors
- Discuss strategies designed to help people make healthier choices easier by encouraging changes to communities that lead to healthier options
- Review pathophysiology which leads to heart failure decompensation
- Describe the different types/classifications of heart failure
- Discuss treatment strategies for different types of acute decompensated heart failure
- Identify arrhythmias potentially occurring at various stages of heart failure progression
- Describe different etiologies of stroke
- Describe current medical management/ prevention of stroke
- Discuss the evidence-based techniques in trans-femoral carotid stenting
- Compare and contrast the outcomes between trans-femoral carotid stenting and carotid endarterectomy surgery
- Review the indications for Trans Carotid Revascularization (TCAR) Procedure
- Discuss the role of TCAR in carotid revascularization
- Review the evidence-based nursing care of the patient with post-carotid stent.
