
9th Annual Comprehensive Wound Care Symposium State-of-the-Art Wound Care: Traditional Paradigms, Evolving Approaches, and Technology
This conference is designed to provide state of the art information and best practice guidelines in the treatment of acute and chronic wounds. Both medical and surgical management strategies to optimize wound healing will be addressed.
Call for Poster Abstracts
We will be accepting poster abstracts beginning May 2nd through August 22nd, 2022 on research, evidence-based practice, and quality initiatives as they relate to wound care. If selected, you will have the opportunity to present your poster. It will be displayed throughout the designated viewing areas during the conference, and abstracts will be published in the conference program. Prizes will be awarded to the highest-rated poster in each category, including a people’s choice award.

Target Audience
This course is intended for physicians, nurses, physical therapists, podiatrists, advanced practice providers and all clinicians involved in wound healing or wound care issues. Course material will benefit both novice and experienced clinicians.
Learning Objectives
The goal of this symposium is to provide a comprehensive overview on the treatment of wound care-related issues and innovations in the field. Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
• Increase and demonstrate the fundamental knowledge of compression therapy
• Discuss the basic science supporting hyperbaric oxygen therapy
• Empathize with the patient experiencing hyperbaric oxygen therapy
• List obligatory safety precautions for hyperbaric oxygen therapy
• Examine and demonstrate various debridement techniques and indications for utilization
• Increase knowledge of integrative modalities for wound healing
• Understand the link of bioburden to soft tissue infection
• Recognize current paradigms to detect subclinical wound infection and develop treatment plans
• Understand treatment protocols for osteomyelitis
• Examine the role that venous reflux disease has in lower extremity wounds
• Identify indicators of arterial disease in chronic wounds
• Review the pitfalls of combined arterial and venous disease in chronic wounds
• Review information presented on clinical posters
• Increase understanding of ostomies as it relates to peristomal skin breakdown
• Understand the challenges with complex abdominal wall wounds and reconstruction
• Gain knowledge of a street medicine program
• Examine new Drugs and Therapeutics for Abnormal Wound Healing
• Weigh techniques to provide offloading in an office situation
• Analyze devices to provide long-term prevention for diabetic foot ulcers
• Scrutinize methods to a multidisciplinary approach to limb salvage
• Discuss the impact of research and offloading in the diabetic population
• Evaluate the impact of autoimmune disorders and medications in wound healing
• Understand the use of skin substitutes
• Evaluate the impact of the opioid crisis and pain management
• Grasp liability and documentation issues with wound care
• Detect when surgical interventions are indicated for pressure injuries
• Examine the role of sitting protocols related to pressure injuries
• Understand current techniques to prevent pressure injuries
• List current methods to evaluate pressure injuries
• Identify nutrition interventions that optimize wound healing
• Analyze the key steps in diagnosis and treatment of lymphedema
• Assess new smart technology in wound care
