Alternatives for Families: a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Part 2: Professional Skills Training
Alternatives for Families: A Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (AF-CBT) is a trauma-informed evidence-based treatment (EBT) designed to improve the relationships between children and caregivers in families involved in arguments/conflict, physical force/discipline/aggression, child physical abuse, or child behavior problems. AF-CBT training is offered using a structured Supported Learning Community format delivered in three parts listed below. All three parts are required in order to be considered fully trained in AF-CBT.
• Part 1: Foundations of AF-CBT via the NCTSN Academy Learning Center
• Part 2: AF-CBT Professional Skills Training (that's this course!)
• Part 3: AF-CBT Consultation Calls with Experts in the Field (more information on this later)
In support of improving patient care, the University of Pittsburgh is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibility for the content of the programs.
