Participants will explore the role of primary care clinicians in the early recognition and evaluation of oral cancer, with a focus on identifying concerning lesions and incorporating oral examination into clinical practice. Through clinical examples, they will consider when additional workup or specialty referral is appropriate and gain an overview of how disease stage and evolving treatment approaches inform the care of patients with oral cancer.

Identify characteristics of oral lesions and examination findings that may indicate increased risk for oral cancer and warrant further evaluation.
Discuss approaches to the evaluation and workup of suspected oral cancer, including indications for biopsy and referral.
Describe current approaches to oral cancer treatment and the implications of emerging therapies for patient care.
